Hi,

Thank you for this. I have already made my decision but you helped validate it. I am going to hold off on any further treatment for now. I don't like what Prednisolone did to Holly the lab but that was a tough one because it did help to keep her blood sugar stable (which was hard to do as we were battling too much insulin and her hypoglycaemic episodes were distressing and potentially fatal), and when her blood sugar was stable, she was still happy to be around so it was a toss-up. I also think that Cartophen, retrospectively, hastened her demise - the drug stimulates joint cells to produce cartilage and lubricants (they think) but it also stimulates cancer cells - which I didn't know and the vet obviously didn't realise or think important - and she did die about 2 weeks after the first treatment. It has caused collapse in dogs with undiagnosed cancer - and with a dog of Boris's age - who knows so I am not going to go there.

But, I will certainly take a few pounds off - he isn't fat but could be trimmer - actually, that goes for me too - we can do it together! I'll feed little dustbin on legs Otto separately so Boris doesn't feel deprived!!

Thanks,
Liz
