Subject: Nemo skin problems...allergies? Posted by ChristinaA on October 07, 2008 at 17:20:19: Nemo continues to have skin problems. The vet's say it's allergies. I'd like to see if anyone here has any ideas. His hair is very thin and he continues to have these quarter sized red sores that come up, red at first with a raised outline (like ringworm) then scaley and flakey and all the hair falls out. He has had them just about all over except his head, starting on his groin and back first, then moving to sides and legs, then starting on his back again. He doesn't scratch any more than normal, but really does enjoy being combed, which stirs up a LOT of dead flakey skin. He isn't chewing on his feet and they aren't really red. No fleas. He's on omega three suppliments and joint suppliments. I've tried special shampoos and sprays for dermititis. He had been doing great on Proplan sensitive skin and stomach (salmon/rice) for the last year and I changed him to Eukanuba all natural wild salmon/rice a month ago with no change. (He has always had bad runs on chicken or beef foods) He has had allergy shots and extended courses of prednisone, which seem to help initially but not after a week or so. His thyroid was normal about 2 years ago. I'll attach a couple photos. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Chris A.
