We did have them taken off over the years, and always benign (incuding a golf-ball sized one on her forearm that appeared over about 2 weeks, and nearly gave me a coronary -- totally benign), towards the end we just let her get spottier and lumpier ... also her tongue! As she got older black spots on tongue like a Chow!
