He'd often shrug off me petting him - too stimulating. He was wild and crazy...but I'd say two months went by when he finally appeared relaxed with me in the backyard and not looking off in the distance like he used to. It was when he really started to give me loving eye contact that I felt he was finally home. Sam's a different beast. He was not as independent. He seemed to attach to us more quickly. And Livvie, age 6, who we just adopted...was very clingy from the beginning but didn't give me a lot of eye contact until a number of months went by. She was always affectionate but I didn't think it was toward us specifically for quite a while. WIth her, she seemed at home and attached to us when she started singing after we had had her for a good 3 months or so...she just sounds so happy when she sings. Now she sings regularly and looks like she's grinning afterward and has a wiggly butt, tail wagging furiously. Tends to sing when she knows I'm going to go outside with her....or if I sing and encourage her to sing with me!
