As I stated, Chelsea, my cbr, was a rescue on 7/30/05 (she was a placement
for Monica, yellow lab who died 7/20/05 from injuries sustained on 6/9/04 from being hit by a car). Chelsea is my 2nd dog owned. (Monica first)
Chelsea was abused & abandoned and an agency got her for me. She has stolen my heart. She feels she must be by my side 24/7, even though she is my wife's SD. She does something unique- she RA-RAs (what I call it - she lies on her back, kicking both legs in the air, and makes a growling/barking sound). This is how she plays or when excited. Monica was trained to do this but Chelsea started this on her own 10 days after getting her - it surprised me she did it. She will do this for hours if you let her. She will not bark at anyone and only occasionally at other dogs. She will not eat or drink unless I hold her bowls (issues I feel related to her past abuse).
After having her for 3 yrs, I know I will never own anything but a chessie.
She does have a strange obsession - battery operated massagers. (had for Monica's pain). Chelsea will run full speed at you when she hears it turned on. She turns around and gives her 'tush', and wants to be rubbed - for as long as you can. Anything that makes a similiar sound elicits this response -
fan, can opener, etc. Even vacuum cleaners, she loves to be vacuumed.
I have to watch outside because if she hears a lawn mower, she wants to rub her rear against it along with other dangerous situations. If it hums, buzzes, shakes, vibrates, or such, it draws 100% concentration. Rather funny when in public- you never know what you'll encounter to trigger her enthusiastic responses. Got To Love A Chesapeake!! Charlie
