Subject: Advice on getting a chessie.

I have some questions about getting a chessie. I have been doing a lot of reading, and have read some contradicting statements as far as temperment of males and females in regards to other dogs coming in their territory, and overall action with strangers.

I have a business located in SW corner of Missouri on a river. We are a resort business, I would like opinions on if a chessie would be good in this environment with new people around all the time. The chessie would not be roaming free all the time, but if she is out, I don't want to worry about them getting aggressive with a stranger. My wife and I are about to have our first child as well. Would it be better to wait to get one till the child is older, or will the pup be more used to the little one if we get one now?
