However, generally Peakes have a 'willingness to please no matter what' attitude. (this is why chessies are usually better hunting partners than Labs(no offense to Lab die-hards) because they want to please and will work in conditions a Lab gives up on). The trick is too teach the chessie very early on that 'strangers' are OK. Getting a pup, and work faithfully by introducing it to 'guests' & 'strangers' will allow smooth transition later on. You mentioned the resort - reason mentioning is that if you chose a Peake, will you have the time needed; chessies generally bond to one person. They will want to be with that person 24/7 if you let them. They are not the type of dog where you can pass about the family to be 'care-givers'. If the dog bonds to you, will you be able to have the dog by you or will you be too busy and have another family member 'sit' the dog. If scheduling of time is a concern, a golden or lab might be better suited for your needs. Goldens have an 'I expect you to pet/play with me attitude', a lab is more like 'I'll play only when I want'. There is a misnomer about Peakes - they are not the aggressive dogs often stated. They however are cautious & leary of strangers and will usually back-away, not attack. If you train the peake early on that strangers are OK, yo will not have issues here.
