IMO, Chessies love children, but don't see them as playmates, instead see them as VERY valuable fragile helpless members of the family (especially babies). The chessie needs to know that the parent has complete responsibility for the child and they need to be told that their role is merely neutral on the sidelines when it comes to keeping the kid "in line" ... you don't need to be a strict parent or anything, just need to make it darn clear to the chessie that you have that area covered and don't need or want their input. Once they understand that they are happy to sit on the sidelines and provide kind and calm stability, which is arguably just what a kid needs.
