Subject: Request for advice from Christina ...

I got this from Christina, who can't post to the board, but who seems to have an interesting question ... I told her I'd post it if folks have advice they can post too ... Christina can read the board, but not post ... (George, is this considered OK? I reread the rules, and it seems to be OK?)

Christina writes: "We had our other dogs before children, so they were grown dogs when our kids (who are 2 and 5 ) came along. I am having a few "problems" wtih Hunter (our new chessie), he is great with my 5 year old son, but he chases my 2 year old daughter (I think because she moves so fast everywhere she goes!) and he is constantly making holes in her shirts or actually biting her skin at times, is this a stage or is there something you think I should be doing now? (We always say no and I try to tell my daughter to stop when he gets a hold of her, and not continue to pull away, but you might know the listening skills of a 2 year old ! )
Also, we let our dogs out at 10 pm and go to bed (they are crated) and he goes to sleep fine, but then is up at 3 in the morning and I take him out for potty, but he refuses to go back to sleep and he is wide awake. If I put him back in his crate he howls, whines, and barks, so I can't let him wake up the kids, so I try to just let him run free, but if I go back to bed he will come in our bedroom and sit by the side of the bed and howl, whine, and bark at me! So, I give in for the sake of everyones elses sleep and end up on the living room floor while he climbs on me and lets out his morning energy (I don't remeber having this with our other dogs as puppies), do you think he will outgrow this and sleep a little longer? Or do you have any ideas on how to control this?
Thank you so much for any advice you might have! Christina
