We also have a rescue and we love him to bits and, like your experience, he also has "issues". We have started obedience with him and plan on going as far with it as we can, maybe even get into tracking, but it is his behavior issues that concern us the most. We think he is insecure and we want to build his confidence. He displays some skittishness when out on walks, he displays avoidance towards other dogs and anything he is unsure of, he has mild aggression towards any dog that shows an interest in getting-to-know-him, and when he is out for walks with only my wife he shows some protectiveness/aggression towards strangers; aloof is one thing but growling and lunging is another story. We are determined to work with him and for every negative thing I've written here there are ten great things about him; and I mean it, I'm skeptical of these sorts of things and though I am a dog person I am no softy! he can be a great dog and we want to work with him. I was hoping you might be able to talk about the issues you had with your rescue and the strategies that helped bring out the best in your dog. thnx
