Every BREEDER and Supporter and Enthusiast of the chesapeake Bay dog were to take on for themselves one ELDER rescue for the remainder of their days instead of hoping 'someone' else will take them? After all... we are the ones breeding them and doing things with them.

I would take one..but I am barely making ends meet and do not know where I will be in a year from now down the road financially or in any other way.

Alaska is hard on Old dogs. I wouldn't mind taking one on though, but I would be afraid my ability to pay for proper Vet care at any whim would be impossible and therefore unacceptable to your program..and... while Alaska is hard on old dogs.. they can do just FINE here as long as the caretaker is home to let them out during the day and can afford to take care of them.

I ca'nt right now... or I would love to.

But how many of you chesapeake folks out there going to shows all year long and going to training classes and breeding more puppies and buying more puppies.. could easily if you were willing do the right thing and give back to the Breed an owner willing to sacrifice a few dollars and time to give on a home? Just think how many chessie we could find homes for?

I know most of you are able to support yourselves fairly well.. have up to code homes and vehicles to fit.... incomes to match and spouses that may also contribute. So instead of breeding another litter .. rescue some instead.

Kath
